Verizon service for mobile phones rivals many others in how they break up their plans for the customers. There are individual plans, family plans, and data plans. Similar to Sprint, certain Verizon cell phones come complete with the Push To Talk feature. Like their rivals in the wireless service business, there are features that are offered for Verizon phones that competitors don’t have.

The individual Verizon service plan is split between America’s Choice basic and America’s Choice select. The basic starts out at $39.99 a month for 450 minutes. At the other end of the spectrum a customer can purchase 6,000 minutes a month for $199.99. These plans, and all others in between, offer free nights and weekends plus free in network calls to other Verizon customers. Customers subscribing to the choice plan can start at $59.99 for 450 minutes and 6,000 minutes costs $219.99 a month. What the choice plan offers over the basic is unlimited text, picture, video, and instant messaging to anyone in the country regardless of the recipient’s network. Both plans also offer free domestic long distance and roaming. International roaming is also an option for a charge per minute.

For family plans, there is also a separation of basic and choice plans that differ in the exact same way as the individual plans do. Basic Family plans begin at $69.99 for two lines and 700 monthly minutes. For 6,000 minutes a month, customers are charged $299.99 for two lines. The choice plan starts at $99.99 a month for two lines and 700 minutes. At the higher end of the scale, $329.99 buys 6,000 minutes a month. Up to three additional phone lines can be added to any of the family plans for $9.99 a month per line.

One of the more popular Verizon accessories is the V Cast service which can be included in the plan or purchased separately. V Cast allows subscribers to download video clips of the news, weather, music videos, and even favorite TV shows. Verizon phones that are V Cast enabled come from LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Audiovox. To protect the digital rights management of the content offered for V Cast, videos can be downloaded and saved to the phone or on a special memory card, which is specific to these phones and cannot be used on a computer or another networks phone.

Verizon accessories also include Bluetooth enabled headsets for hands free driving compliance in states where cell phone use while driving is prohibited. Verizon also offers skins for their various phones that allow the owner to customize the look of the phone itself. Since the V Cast service is so popular, there are also a variety of music and sound related accessories to coincide with video content. Verizon has also offered a number of accessories for the hearing impaired. Different headsets and amplifiers are offered to work with hearing aids.

The number of Verizon ringtones also is a benefit to this network. Verizon claims thousands of ringtones for their customers to download to further customize their phone. Like other services, Verizon ringtones require a small charge.
